mary mossCouncilmember Mary Moss was elected to Position 1 on the Lakewood City Council in November 2009. She is a native of Virginia and moved to Washington State as a military dependent. She graduated from The Evergreen State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and received her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University.

Councilmember Moss earned recognition in her role as community development consultant for Harborstone Credit Union, from which she recently retired after 36 years. She received the Pierce County Chapter of Credit Unions’ Lifetime Achievement Award and was chosen as a Woman of Influence by the Business Examiner. She also recently received the Thomas Bradley Distinguished Citizen award for her work in the community. In addition, Governor Jay Inslee re-appointed her to the Clover Park Technical College Board of Trustees through the end of 2018.

Councilmember Moss currently serves on numerous boards and committees: Lakewood Rotary Club (Board member); State Air Force Association (Vice President); Association of the United States Army – Lakewood Chapter member St. Clare’s Women’s Advisory Council (board member), Lakewood Playhouse (board member); Workforce Advisory Board for Pierce /College Lakewood Chamber of Commerce (member and past chair of Military Affairs Committee); Sound Transit Board (member); Lakewood Playhouse (member emeritus); and Honorary Commander of the 62nd Airlift Wing Operations Group. In addition, she serves as the council liaison to Lakewood’s Promise.

She is the proud mother of three adult children; two sons and a daughter who have blessed her with 11 grandchildren.
